The English curriculum is based on STELLAR (Strategies for English Language Learning and Reading) where the pupils are developed to be proficient in language and be effective communicators. The various pedagogical approaches to language learning and internal programmes that are learner-centred and developmentally appropriate promote a positive attitude and love towards language learning.

Mathematics |
Vision
Pupils with analytical and creative minds, instilled with a greater interest in mathematical knowledge.
Mission
To develop pupils’ ability to use their mathematical thinking and reasoning skills to make logical deduction and induction in solving every day problems.
Initiatives
1) Multiplication Badges – to encourage pupils to master their times table, the department introduced a series of badges to be awarded to pupils in various levels for their mastery of selected times tables.
2) Maths Games – Various Maths related thinking games will be introduced to the pupils during Maths Day. The games will be made available for loan to pupils during recess in Term 3.
3) Heuristics Skills – The department has also put in place a progressive framework of Heuristics skills to be carried out from P1 to P3.
4) Decentralisation of Resources – More manipulatives will be made available to P1 to P3 teachers for use in the classrooms.
5) Maths support Programme – P1, P2 & P4 pupils weak in Maths are placed in the Learning support programme. These pupils are taught in a smaller class size. The above average P6 pupils are placed in another learning support programme taught by an experienced teacher to help stretch their ability in Maths.

The Science Department envisions each OLGC pupil as “a scientist who cares for the environment” and strives to “promote interest, learning and creativity in Science, through meaningful and enjoyable experiences”.
Programmes are customized for pupils to develop process skills, desirable attitudes, raise awareness and learn about scientific applications in daily life.

Mission
To make the learning of Malay Language more meaningful and engaging.
Conversational & Confidence will be our main focus in every activity that pupils will be exposed to. All activities are meant to challenge their creativity and self-expression. These lined-up activities are hoped to broaden their experiences, provide a greater understanding of the language and strengthen their communication & oratorical skills with much confidence. Apart from that, pupils will be actively engaged in their own e-learning platform where there are games, revisions and forums available in school computer laboratory or at their own leisure at home.

Objectives of Programmes
The main focus of the TL programmes is to instill the love, passion, confidence amongst the girls, which will create a sense of comfortness towards the Tamil Language. The ancillary objective was to inbuilt ICT skills amongst the pupils.

Riding on the wave of implementation of the new PE syllabus, the department will be adjusting the P1 and P2 curriculum design to consist of 5 main components (Educational Gym, Sports and Games, Dance and Physical Health and Fitness, Outdoor Education).

For 2009, the school’s health programmes will aim to integrate learning about health issues into the student’s daily lifestyle. Learning Support Programme |
(English and Mathematics)
The Learning Support Programme is for those P1 and P2 pupils who have been identified to attend a specialized programme. They get help in basic literacy skills. LSP pupils will come together thirty minutes everyday for small group teaching.
This enables them to cope better in the mainstream. The pupils are taught by specially Learning Support Co-coordinator.

Innovation and Enterprise |
The Innovation and Enterprise (InE) Committee’s mission is ‘Create New Value for the 21st Century Learners.’ Hence, the key programmes and activities planned focus on this aspect which allows students to be in greater awareness of being a 21st century learner:
- Action Community for Entrepreneurship (ACE) Schools Programme by SPRING Singapore for Primary 4 students aims to cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset among students and support those with good ideas to start their own business, by bringing enterprises into schools. The InE Committee has secured an industry partnership with The Marmalade Pantry. Together with their know-how, students understand the elements of running a successful sales / retail business and convert their innovative ideas into a feasible business plans after learning effective marketing strategies. Students will also create exciting publicity and promotional efforts in the final leg of the programme whereby they conceptualise a mini charity drive with The Marmalade Pantry in aid of the charity of our choice, Make-A-Wish Foundation Singapore.
- Youth Social Entrepreneurship Programme (YSEP) by Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) Singapore for Primary 5 students cultivates a positive attitude of ‘Making a Difference’ for local communities and develop a sense of responsibility towards Singapore and the society as students understand the concept of entrepreneurship as a value creation tool and its application to resolve social issues.
